365-238 For Lisa....

My sweet friend Lisa gave me a recipe for home made spaghetti sauce years ago.  I made it once or twice over the years and went back to the "easy" Ragu jars.  Honestly, I don't know why?  It is so easy to make this sauce.  I got out the recipe and made fresh sauce this week.  The family loved it and I will never go back to Ragu.  It is so yummy and so easy!

Thanks Lisa... Miss you so much!!!!

Easy Sauce Recipe

2 cans of whole peeled tomatoes
2 small cans of tomatoes sauce
olive oil
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 onion
t. sweet basil
t. oregano
t. sugar
fresh parsley
bay leaf

In a pan, take the olive oil, garlic and onions and saute until golden. Take the tomatoes and put it in a blender and pulse a couple times.  Add tomatoes and sauce and add to pan with onions.  Add fresh parsley, bay leaf, sweet basil, oregano and sugar.  Simmer 2-3 hours and voila YUM!!!

You can make meat balls, Italian sausage, or add or brown ground (chop) meat to the sauce.

  1. I've just recently started making my sauce homemade.YUM!!! The jar stuff just doesn't compare. :)

  2. That's just great!!! When the heck is it going to be about me already!!!

  3. I always make homemade. I like making it in the crock pot then I freeze the extra.

  4. I love that you love my sauce!! Very cool picture. I miss you so much.....sniff, sniff.
