1000 Gifts Plus 366-89-93

Passion Week....

This week is a week that reminds us of what Jesus did for us.  Everyday, I want to focus on Him but this week especially.  We went to an art museum over the weekend that had some artwork  from the early 1500's.  We had a professor direct our tour about the Christian World View and how artwork tells about where society is and what they are thinking or doing in their lives.
As we walked through this beautiful museum and went from era to era there was a change.  A subtle
change but nonetheless a change.  The earlier pieces were pictures like the above.  Jesus... Christianity...
God... as we got to the later time periods we saw the difference.   The first changes we saw came with the reformation.  Through the dutch artist the change was more in God's beauty of the things around us.  Then the turn... to selfishness.  The "all about me" syndrome.  Every portrait seemed to show status and look what I have.

The point is that I don't want to be like some of the artist that think only about themselves and what stuff we have.  I want my entire life to surrounded and centered around Jesus.  I want my kids and children to see me and remember that their momma loved Jesus!  That is what this life is about... Jesus!

The bottom two pictures are of pictures after we left the museum.  The first my girlie girl took and the second is of my sweet family on the pier.

Still counting....

  1. What an interesting observation...art does mirror its culture, doesn't it? Yes, I want the art of my lift to reflect Him!

  2. Beautiful post..and I love the picture of the water at the museum. It's a special museum to us too and I'm thinking unless you took a major drive to get there, we must live somewhat close. :) My son when he was six gave his life to Christ on a field trip we took to the Getty at this time of year after we looked at a lot of the Christian artwork. I still treasure the pictures from that day. Thanks for sharing & I like your gifts! Happy Easter!
