We visited one of the California missions.  There are 22 up the coast of California.  They are from around the 1700's.  The original purpose of the missions were for the Catholic Monks to teach the American Indians about Jesus.  Although, I am not Catholic, it was great to see the history and the architecture of the buildings.  Also, Jesus was portrayed in all the artwork.  Above is the story of the cross.
We would like to visit more.

Blessings,
Kim

  2. Hi Kim,
Just wanted to stop by now that I'm home to visit your blog. It's lovely. Thanks for your words of encouragement too. I appreciate it. And we recently took a field trip to one of the missions also. Although it wasn't new to me, I grew up Catholic and lived very near the one I took my son to visit. I haven't read around enough to find out do you live in California or was it part of a trip. Take care!
