P52-Week5

This week has been tough.  I did not get my camera out until yesterday.  I took some photos of our preparations for Super Bowl snacks.  I wish I only ate cucumbers but I digress that I ate so much more. That is another story or post....

The first picture is my poor attempt to shoot the cucumber.  I had my 50mm lens on and shot in aperature F-1.8 200 iso.  Anyway, the white balance seems to be off.  Ugh.
Next, my girlie girl grabs her camera and shoots away.  She blew me away in my opinion.  She shot in aperature as well. Her iso was 400, F5.6 and shutter speed 1/30. Her picture is SOOC.  Obviously, the coloring is way better and the lighting seems so much more natural.  As I was downloading her picture, I noticed all these shots that she has taken and did not down load.  The last picture is also SOOC!  She is way better than me and has only been shooting for a short while.

So there you go....
I have a natural on my hands...

Many Blessings,
Kim

  1. Oh dear, I still ate superbowl snacks today. And I didn't even watch it. I love your third photo...the light, reflection, spectral highlights, natural monochrome. Very nice indeed.

  2. Oh, and I thought the cuke shot had an action applied to it.

  4. Love the photos - I so need a class or a challenge so I can learn my camera. Nice work!

  5. My philosophy is: Shoot everything, check your settings and shoot it again! Don't feel alone, out of several hundred shots, I usually have a handful of keepers...

    Just keep shooting and learning!

  7. Well, you also have to look at the fact that both shots are taken in different directions (lighting). It makes a difference. And the ISO/AP ratios you mentioned make a difference too.

  9. Hi Kim...how neat that you can share the same hobby! They are great pictures. I did get to go, but only on Saturday. I was still too sick on Friday. My coughing was so bad, my husband said you are not going anywhere. I'm still coughing, but I'm told it can stay for weeks. I missed hearing Sarah Mae speak so I was bummed about that, but Saturday was a good, full, inspiring day and I got to go to a really neat anti inflammatory restaurant in Fashion Island with two friends. Thanks for always checking in on me. I appreciate it.
